Virtual reality (VR), which can be referred to as immersive multimedia or computer-simulated reality, replicates an environment that simulates a physical presence in places in the real world or an imagined world, allowing the user to interact in that world.

Augmented reality (AR) is a live, direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data.

Mixed reality (MR)—sometimes referred to as hybrid reality—is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualisations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time.

Using Mixed Reality to Transport and Provoke.

In collaboration with the the Peabody Essex Museum, we envisioned how 200 years of rising sea levels might transform our local landscape. The Kingston 2219 experience transported guests at our Kingston Street loft to a distant future, spurring thought into how today’s tech is changing the ways in which we tell stories and experience the spaces around us.

Animating In-vehicle Sound.

For the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), we designed and integrated 3D animations with Real Fiction’s Deep Frame One to visualize in-vehicle sound for Panasonic.

Helping Meritor Use VR to Educate Their Audience.

We created multiple 360° video experiences for Meritor. Each experience lets users explore Meritor’s garage where they can see and interact with their full line of parts. Users can then ride along in a virtual semi where they can experience the benefits of their products demonstrated on the road.

Using VR to take a Musical Journey at Intermitten.

For Intermitten 2016, we created a live VR experience that incorporated a live performance by Shigeto. As participants were interacting with one of the four environments we created, it was displayed to the audience as well as Shigeto. As the participant explored, Shigeto would create a custom score for each of their journeys.

VR Illustrating the Power of Data

Pega approached us to create a fun VR experience for their tradeshow. In the experience, users are able to visualize the powerful data Pega uses to make sure their travels go smoothly. Through the addition of mini games, we also were able to showcase multiple parts of their platform.

Augmenting A Gallery Exhibition For the Ann Arbor Art Center

For Intermitten 2017, we created an AR experience using the artwork of Andrew Rosinki. Visitors could use glyphs to travel from the physical gallery into immersive virtual installations.

Virtual Reality & Gelato

We created a fun experience for our friends at FCA to get up to speed on the current trends in VR. We designed an experience that highlighted the new Fiat 124 Spider. Walk into the virtual garage to see your new convertible, spin it, change color, learn about the features and even take a look inside. When you're done playing, go for a tour where you can fly high above the convertible as it winds along road all while enjoying a bit of gelato.
